    In a place like this, I don't think geotagging is an issue because it's easily accessible and available on the map with just a mention of what it is. The biggest thing that pisses me off about the UA-camrs and people like that is they monetize off the public lands but when it's time to fight to keep them open they disappear like rats. The BLM is constantly trying to close these places down, The Owyees, San Rafael Swell, tons of places around Moab, etc, etc. The immediate reaction to that is that well people are trashing the place, that is a red herring (although it does happen of course) What they really want to do is not allow access by roads and turn it all into wilderness areas. So what is wrong with that? You can just walk in! Well, not everyone has the ability to be mobile on their own and closure is NOT management. Anyway, these idiots will just move on to the next public land to make their videos about their morning coffee, sell the audience the latest must-have items their sponsors give them for free, and then push on. You guys captured the beauty of your trip amazingly

    • @RogueElement
      @RogueElement 18 днів тому

      @@NigelNaughton thanks and you made some great points. I don’t mind people monitizing off it, it’s ridiculously expensive creating content like that but the geotagging is how people find out about these locations now. Before, it was word of mouth and the occasional travel book but social media has taken some hidden gems and blown them up past recognition. If you get bored, looks up Tamolich Blue Pool in Oregon which has been closed several times due to crowds, garbage and unsafe activities. Now what we absolutely agree on is the majority of these influencers and UA-camrs do NOT do jack squat to prevent this nor do they make the land better like trail clean-ups, educate people or make positive changes and I bet a lot of them have never voiced opinion in town halls against crazy anti off-roaders who have a big voice and influence. That needs to change and we hope people listen when we talk about it in our videos. That’s also why we made t-shirts that say “influencers suck” on the back lol

  • @chenglee7277
    @chenglee7277 19 днів тому

    This is why I don't condone geo-tagging. If people want to find places and are willing to put hard work into doing so, those are the only ones I want out there. If they're too lazy to research they're likely too lazy to leave the places cleaner than when they get there.

  • @cliff4769
    @cliff4769 19 днів тому

    Do you think UA-cam and social media has impacted public lands in a negative way when seeing such an increase in activity? Public lands is public space….thats often trashed. Like you said; good to see so many enjoying it, but there’s a price.

    • @RogueElement
      @RogueElement 19 днів тому

      @@cliff4769 geotagging on Instagram has had a major negative effect on trails and public lands. They don’t need advertised and some influencers don’t understand that but at the same time don’t educate their followers on etiquette and respecting the sites. Love your videos. Not for the rigs. Not for the scenery or epic destinations. I love your channel for the fails. Not in a "enjoying bad things happen to others" way, but in a way where things don't go as planned and you have to adjust. It's WAY more realistic than many of the other channels. As a viewer I can really sympathize with you when you get a flat tire on the highway, and then realize that your beadlocks are self-destructing. Then your brakes fail. And in this one I love the part where you talking about getting to camp early, setting up cameras to record the stars and waking up early the next morning only to show up late, can't find the bridge, driving in the dark and have Cup-O-Noodles for dinner and sleeping late the next morning. They literally did the common sense thing to do but the shooters were obviously not paying attention to their surroundings and the boys got out the second they saw the danger. There’s plenty of places that drive by shooting ranges where people don’t change direction of their shooting, away from a berm to whiz bullets towards cars. You can see cars clear as day from that shooting spot and can absolutely hear horns honking even with ears in. Had the shooters been responsible, it wouldn’t have been an issue…could the route been avoided? Possibly…but it was not out of lack of common sense, it was an error in judgment by trusting people who should know better.

      @@RogueElement thats literally what i just said "have to assume the shooters arent paying attention AND dont have common sense", assuming the shooters knew what they were doing was the lack of common sense on your part. The shooters lack of common sense and lack of attention was the error on their part. Accept your lack of common sense by assuming. It happens to everyone. Learn from it and you're good to go.

    There is a trail that goes through there but I would not camp in that flat area by the airplane landing strip and at the end of that strip is the so-called shooting range people shouldn’t be shooting to the right or to the left only straightahead, I would just get out of the Pillsbury flat area and get into the back country. I go up there all the time and camp hike backpack etc. lots of places to explore.

    I really do enjoy your videos. 17:20 a control board like that is what I need to clean up the rat nest under my hood. Would you mind telling me what brand that is?
